Adopting new habits after COVID-19

It is late April and there is a lot of discussion in the media about what happens after COVID-19. Will our society go back to the way it was before? Let’s hope not – let’s hope we can learn from this experience and adopt new WasteLess habits.

Like only shopping once a week. We do it now to avoid the crowds, social distancing and having to avoid the queue into the shop. But, it has lots of advantages if your interest is in reducing waste. It forces you to plan your meals and buy only what you need for those meals. It results in less overbuying. It usually means that there is less waste at the end of the week.

Like more home cooking. The COVID-19 crises has caused many people back into the kitchen. This is great news for human health but is also good for the environment. It has encouraged people to find recipes that can use up those leftover items in the pantry. With winter approaching, it is a great time to experiment with putting all those vegetables together into a great winter soup.

Like growing your own vegetables. It has been fantastic to see so many people working in their gardens. I can hardly wait to see spring when I am sure all this work will pay off in wonderful gardens all around us. This will include some amazing vegetables. What WasteLess habits are you going to adopt after COVID-19? Let us know here.
